Maintaining our environment takes small and large actions by companies and individuals, in order to reduce the burden on the environment. At Digitekno, we take the environment into account in all our operations and functions, from selling of products to their recycling, and if possible, we expect the same from our partners. We look for solutions that sustain in terms of the environment. Our business functions are currently guided by ISO14001 and ISO9001 standards, SER producer responsibility and Rinki packaging producer responsibility.
ISO 9001 as a guarantee of quality and ISO 14001 as a guardian of the environment
At the very core of our quality system are ISO9001 quality and ISO14001 environmental certificates, which constitute a guarantee for compliance with general laws and obligations concerning producers of electrical and electronic equipment. By pursuing and maintaining the certificates, we convey a certain message to our customers, focusing on responsible purchasing. When working with us, the environmental issues are being taken into account - something to capitalize on.
Proper recycling with SER producer responsibility
Taking care of SER producer responsibilities - which is what being a member of the producer community practically calls for - is a mandatory, statutory obligation and applies to all producers (importers and manufacturers). In other words, everyone who sets electrical and electronic equipment on the Finnish market, is binded by this responsibility. The electrical and electronic devices that have reached the end of their life cycle, and are to be disposed, may contain substances that can be harmful to the environment. Thus, it's important to send the devices, which are classified as SER waste, for proper recycling, so all materials can either be used in the future or disposed of safely. After removal from use, electrical and electronic equipment manufactured by Digitekno can be delivered free of charge to recycling points, managed by the SER producer community (see return points here).
Rinki producer responsibility and packaging waste disposal
Packaging producer responsibility means that Digitekno Oy is legally responsible for proper recycling of packaging material it uses. In practice Digitekno has an obligation to organize the collection and recycling of its packaging waste in its entirety. As a member of the Rinki Producer Responsibility Association, Digitekno is expected to report the amount of packaging materials it uses annually, to Suomen Pakkauskierrätys RINKI Oy. Additionally, the Waste Act and the Packaging Ordinance also stipulate national goals and requirements for the recycling and reuse of packaging for producers' responsibility, which must be implemented in Finland.
